Wandering in the open garden, guests may become familiar with traditional apple cultivation methods and sustainable, green technologies, and may also taste the finest traditional dishes of the Hajdúság region, while enjoying the unique atmosphere of the area.

With its fine cuisine and programmes, the Almavirág Restaurant offers a great opportunity for families who prefer culinary experiences and active leisure. Grown-ups can treat themselves to delicious dishes made from local products and to wine tasting, while children can have fun in the garden or in the digital game house.

We consider the education of future generations important. In line with this approach, our digital game house allows kids to get an insight into sustainability through games, to learn about the journey of ingredients from farms to the dining table, and to find out how drinks are made from fruits.

The facility is a perfect venue for get-togethers from small family events to conventions with hundreds of participants. The 400 sqm room can be arranged according to the specific needs: It can be set up as a theatre or as a party venue, but the room can also be divided into three partitions with separate entrances, where different workshops or conference sections can take place.

Development of the tourism potential of the existing natural features in Derecske

In the framework of the Széchenyi 2020 programme, the Derecskei Kertbarátok Hagyományőrző Egyesülete completed a tourism development project that is highly significant for both the county and the area of Derecske. The budget of the project was about HUF 300 million. The key objectives of the project was to present traditional and modern gardening as a joyful activity for modern people, and to boost gastro and business tourism in the region.

The Derecskei Kertbarátok Hagyományőrző Egyesülete considers it important to present traditional and modern farming, to collect related tools and equipment, to contribute to school programmes on environmental education, and to identify and preserve natural features.

In the framework of the project entitled “Development of tourist potential for existing natural features in Derecske”, ID nr. TOP 1.2.1.-2015- HB1-2016- 00007 , completed as part of the Széchenyi 2020 programme using a grant of HUF 250 million, workshop rooms for arts and crafts and tradition preservation activities, service and rest rooms, and storage rooms for equipment were established.

Following the reconstruction of an existing structure, the Team House now accommodates a projecting room, an activity room, and a workshop toom for arts and crafts demonstrations, each for up to 40 persons. The service and rest rooms, including a fully accessible toilet, as well as the storage rooms were also established in the Team House.

The scientific playground was also set up by reconstructing an existing building. The interactive playground is complemented with an office, a storage room and rest rooms. The digital room with a capacity of 40 visitors is equipped with five interactive mobile or built-in projectors. Playground equipment, interactive games, IT equipment, indoor and outdoor fixtures and furniture, an electric van, as well as kitchen appliances were also among the purchased items.

In order to make the facility and its surroundings attractive and welcoming, the establishment of a nice and tidy environment was required. In the park benches were placed and direction signs were installed to help visitors navigate.

As a result of the project, a facility was brought to life that offers the interactive presentation of the food processing and farming practices of the past, the present and the future, including the related challenges, and which is able to effectively combine digital technology and traditional game elements in its programmes.

The facility will open in January 2022. The project is another step in the process in which Derecske is gradually becoming a major gastro and experiential tourism location, known all over the country: The Team House offers high-quality services and all the necessary conditions for workshops and conferences. In the kitchen visitors can engage in experiential cooking, while the scientific game house combines digital technology with traditional game components in order to involve kids in physical and educational activities. In the Smart Garden visitors can play an Experience Quiz. The destination is a perfect choice for children’s camps as well. The inclusion of new target groups may help promote Derecske and its immediate area as a tourist destination, and may also result in an increase of guest nights spent in Hajdú-Bihar county.

Development of the tourism potential of the existing natural features in Derecske

In the framework of the Széchenyi 2020 programme, the Derecskei Kertbarátok Hagyományőrző Egyesülete will execute a tourism development project that is highly significant for both the county and the area of Derecske. The project has won a grant of over HUF 250 million. The key objectives of the project are to present traditional and modern gardening as a joyful activity for modern people, and to boost gastro and business tourism in the region. The facilities reconstructed and established in the framework of the project may result in an increased number of tourism nights spent in the area and a broader range of programmes available to tourists visiting the county.

The speciality of the Derecskei Kertbarátok Hagyományőrző Egyesülete is the preservation of the traditions of autonomous farming communities, and the utilisation of these traditions and practices for the purposes of tourism. For this reason, the beneficiary considers it important to present traditional and modern farming, to collect related tools and equipment, to contribute to school programmes on environmental education, and to explore and preserve natural features.

The project “Development of the tourism potential of the existing natural features in Derecske”, to be executed in the framework of the Széchenyi 2020 programme with ID nr. TOP 1.2.1.-2015- HB1-2016-00007, aims to support the local economy by using tourist attractions in the county and to increase the number of tourism nights in the area. In addition to creating new jobs, the project will address, and through its results satisfy, the demands of a new target group: gastro and business tourists.

Using the grant, the beneficiary will start the construction of the service rooms, the storage rooms for equipment, and the workshop rooms where arts and crafts sessions will take place. A reconstructed building will accommodate the interactive presentation of the food processing and farming practices of the past, the present and the future, including related challenges. The project will rely on a combination of digital technology and traditional game elements. It will also include the establishment of well-designed green areas, as well as the construction of parking lots and roads.

To sum it up, the project will allow visitors to get in touch with local traditions through up-to-date technological solutions in a joyful way. The inclusion of a new target segment may help promote the county, Derecske and its immediate area among tourists, and may lead to an increase in the number of tourism nights spent in the region.
